There was something special about Illawong Beach. I was really attracted to the simplicity and uncluttered essence of the landscape. We were now in our tenth month of our journey on our lap around Australia and time had started to slow down for me and I felt I had a deeper connection to the environment, appreciating the subtleties of form, colour and light.
It is easy and we all fall into the trap of making ourselves busy, where distractions are abound, and we often overlook the profound beauty before us.
I loved the subdued hues of Illawong Beach at sunset, everything was still and quiet, the soft hues and the interplay of shadows helped me to make each stroke more deliberate. When we take the time to look in these moments of quiet observation it is only then that we can truly appreciate the richness of our natural world in all its beauty and find solace in its simplicity.
