I am a visual artist based in central Victoria, having lived in Bendigo for the past 15 years. Alongside my practice as a local farmer and art educator at a Bendigo school, I specialise in gouache on paper and oil on canvas.
While I’ve always had a passion for painting and formal training in tonal realism, life and family commitments meant that I took breaks from my art practice over the years. Now, in my fifties, I’m dedicating more time to pursuing my passion for painting.
In 2024, I was fortunate to be selected for the Artists on View Program in Bendigo, where I exhibited my work at Dudley House. The exhibition, titled The Long Road Home, featured 24 framed gouache and oil landscapes that chronicled a year-long, 25,000km journey around Australia in a 4WD with a rooftop tent. This series became a visual diary, capturing the diversity and changing landscapes of the country.
The exhibition was a success, with more than half of the artworks sold—a remarkable achievement considering the current cost-of-living pressures. Now that I am no longer transitionary and able to return to my studio, I can focus on using oils rather than water-based paints.
My vision as an artist over the next year or so is to have another exhibition based in Bendigo, focusing on flower and fruit still life studies.
