Charlie Moreland Reserve is named after a long-term ranger to this area, is a green oasis set in a grassy open forest nestled close to Little Yabba Creek and is surrounded by native pine plantations. There was a perfect waterhole there for swimming and amazing walks into the cool deep forest. As I sat painting, I also hoped to see platypus but unfortunately, I was not lucky enough to see the elusive little animal there or in fact anywhere around Australia. Much of Queensland has been cleared of forest so it is always exciting to find reserves that are saved to protect our precious environment.
